Technical Assistance and Training

Technical assistance and training strengthen organizational capacity and improve program outcomes. Windrose Vision offers a broad range of assistance—from phone consultations to one-day seminars to intensive, onsite, multi-day trainings—designed to strengthen and improve the skills of stakeholders with all levels of expertise. We begin every engagement with an in-depth assessment to understand the goals and culture of the organization. This enables us to customize trainings to ensure our services meet the specific needs and objectives of our clients.

Training topics include:

  • How to adapt and tailor evidence-based health interventions for diverse populations

  • Design impact evaluations

  • Develop valid and reliable data collection instruments

Research Portfolio Analysis

Research portfolio analysis can serve as a tool for strategic planning processes or provide information about an existing portfolio. Windrose Vision uses portfolio analysis to identify areas of overlap in existing portfolios and gaps in relation to existing goals. We compare internal and external portfolios to increase understanding of the internal portfolio’s role in a broader context. Windrose Vision performs descriptive and comparative biomedical R&D portfolio analysis as an additional tool to inform ongoing research management processes.

Questions that research portfolio analysis can answer include:

  • How can the organization more efficiently allocate resources (e.g., streamlining or eliminating programs)?

  • What priority areas are consistent and can be coordinated across the organization’s existing programs and initiatives?

  • What has been the organization’s investment in research of a particular category?
